[/classy] [classy=apphead]ORIGIN[/classy] [classy=blocktext] katherine isabella hawkins was born a perfectly normal girl. she had no mutant genes, was not from another planet, had no particular blood relation to any major magic user, and had never had any member of her family interbreed with something that wasn’t human. perfectly. normal. at least until the day she accidently stumbled across a dying man. literally.she had no way of knowing it at the time, but the man’s name was mason alexander, a patron of the arts, head of a famous game and toy company, and all around classy rich gentleman. oh, and the mortal champion chosen by the aztec god xochipilli to represent him and perform works in his name on earth. despite years spent working for xochipilli, alexander’s time had finally come, namely in the form of a fatal heart attack which his god was unable to stave off any longer. faced with death, and having not chosen anyone to inherit the mantle of power granted by xochipilli, alexander’s powers jumped into the nearest available host; kitty hawkins. there was no noticeable change. no flash of light, or sudden visitation from xochipilli himself. simply a wave of dizziness that quickly passed and went more or less unnoticed. alexander died soon after, despite kitty having called paramedics who arrived on the scene mere minutes after alexander had passed on. clueless of the transfer, kitty was thanked for doing the right thing in calling nine-one-one, then sent on her way. for months nothing happened at all. kitty went about her life day by day, perfectly content, and completely unaware of the burden that had been placed on her shoulders. finally though a day came when she was visited in her sleep by xochipilli himself and told of what she was: the mortal champion of the god of games. unfortunately kitty simply disregarded his visitation as another of her wacky dreams and the cycle of ignorance continued on. it wasn’t long after this dream that things began to change however. an avid fan of table top rpgs since she’d discovered them in middle school, kitty often participated in various campaigns, as well as hosted quite a few herself. during such campaigns though things began to happen. weird things. scary things. at times when kitty would declare an action and roll her die the events would come true within reality (which made for some really awkward and unexplainable campaigns). things only escalated from there, until finally her gaming exploits caught the attention of SHIELD operatives. considering her a unknown and possibly dangerous individual, she was shipped off to the avengers academy so that she might be kept under watch and better learn to control her odd powers.[/classy] [classy=apphead]SKILLS[/classy] [classy=listtext] - SELECTIVE MEMORY: anyone who knows katherine in any expanse knows she has a mind like a leaky faucet; stuff is always dripping out to disappear forever into the drain of whatever cosmic pipe forgotten thoughts go to. thankfully for kitty, and her teachers, she is capable of retaining certain information perfectly fine. namely anything read or written is more or less seared into her brain for all time. just why her mind is capable of keeping such information stored, while everything else quickly fades away, is beyond comprehension, though it certainly is useful.[liststyle]#[/liststyle]
- INTELLIGENCE: because of her general airheadedness and one-track mind kitty is often dismissed as being dumb by most people. the truth of the matter is that katherine is actually highly intelligent. while not exactly a super genius, she is definitely within the higher percentile of students at the academy in regards to grades, and has a general knowledge of…pretty much fucking everything stored away in her head just waiting to be used. the problem for her though is finding that information for later use.
- SELF-DEFENSE: like most students who enter into the avengers academy, kitty has learned a decent amount of self-defense to use when the situation calls for it. she is by no means a true fighter in the sense that she can take on martial artists of all levels with ease and duke it out with the heavy hitters. however, she does know enough to put her on a level playing field with generic goons and such, and give her a bit of an edge against those villains who aren’t expecting the dreamy eyed girl to throw a haymaker to their face.
- STEALTH: katherine has always been on the sneaky side, even when she was little. she was known for having a knack for showing up almost out of the blue, or appearing at the most unlikely of times, when in reality she’d simply been there all along, completely unnoticed. taking advantage of this the teachers at the avengers academy have been teaching her higher level stealth tactics, which have only made her harder to catch, and more likely to pop up behind you when you least expect it while asking you what you’re up to.
[/classy] [classy=apphead]POWERS[/classy] [classy=listtext] - PROBABILITY MANIPULATION: one of the powers granted to her by xochipilli is that of probability manipulation. keeping in line with his role as the god of games, katherine can only access this power through a very specific, game-related medium: a set of dice used for table top rpgs. by declaring an action and then rolling a pair of twenty sided dice katherine is capable of altering the probability of something happening. one die (a blue one) represents the difficulty of the roll that she must overcome. the other die (a red one) represents her attempt at altering reality. assuming the number of the red die is higher than that of the blue die kitty’s roll is successful, and can cause all manner of things to happen (so long as it isn’t something that would shatter all of reality, or something like asking for a person to die instantly). in the event that she rolls lower however nothing will happen. in the case of two numbers very specific things will happen. if kitty rolls a twenty whatever she declares is guaranteed to happen, usually in the most spectacular manner possible. in the event she rolls a one though her declared action is guaranteed to fail, again in the most spectacular manner possible, and usually in a way that will negatively affect both kitty and anyone close to her.[liststyle]#[/liststyle]
- POWER BESTOWAL: by having someone choose a “class” kitty is capable of temporarily granting a person powers and skills in line with that of the class they have chosen. this power can be used on anyone, be they normal civilian or super of some sort. in the case of a super the powers granted are stacked on top of those they normally possess, though generally they tend to be weaker than the kind of power boost granted to someone without any powers to begin with. in addition whoever chooses a class is also granted a temporary change of wardrobe to correspond to that of their class. finally, kitty can use this power on herself as well, wardrobe change and all, to enhance herself in battle situations. Kitty can only grant powers to up to two people at one time, not including herself.
- LIMITED OMNISCIENCE: this ability is directly tied to that of her dungeon master’s guide (dungeons & dragons, version 3.5 bitches) which has since been “enchanted” via xochipilli’s power to provide katherine with certain information. by choosing a target and opening her guide katherine can gain access to a character sheet of her target which possesses all the same information a character sheet from an actual game would. namely things like hit points, equipment, moral alignment, etc. however that is where her ability to learn about something or someone ends as her guide is unable to provide any sort of information that would not normally be listed within an actual dungeon master’s guide. also, her guide cannot distinguish a difference between a super’s alias and civilian persona, meaning if she were to try and learn about a villain it would only show their super alias and related information, whereas if she tried to learn about a villain’s civilian persona her guide would show information as if they were a normal person.
