- QUIRKS: Scott is a full-blown self-saboteur and raging alcoholic. He's in denial about his addiction to booze and becomes very irate if anyone tells him that maybe he should lay off of it. He can't hold a decent job and really doesn't even try to better himself as a person. Ironically, he's the most devoted sort in a relationship. He hates being alone and will literally do anything to please a significant other to avoid loneliness. But, alas, he always manages to screw it up in some way, shape, or form.
Scott literally pretends that he's a decent person for stealing from the rich, but in reality he feels very awful and selfish for doing so. So, to make up for his guilt and bad karma, he fights crime as a masked vigilante under the alias 'Shrapnel'. He's kind of what you could call an anti-hero.
[/classy] [classy=apphead]ORIGIN[/classy] [classy=blocktext] Scott is a mutant, plain and simple. He inherited his mutant traits from his mother, who had married a plain ol' human. His father was completely unaware of the fact that his wife and two children were mutants, and he was a very miserable sort of person. Scott was the eldest so he's the only one aware of the sort of abusive situation his mother was in before she skipped out of town. She left him when he was still pretty young, but he remembers it like it yesterday (wow mommy issues). Afterward, Scott's father turned his attention on his two children, and while he rarely lay a hand on either of them--he was quite verbally abusive. Scott became a rebellious, angry sort of teenager and would leave the house and stay out all night sometimes. During one of his outings he discovered his powers. He'd had an argument with his father and when he threw a punch at a brick wall in a fit of anger he actually caused the thing to collapse. After a few more years and training his powers, he left the house at the age of sixteen in the very same fashion his mother had. He would occasionally visit without making himself noticed, just to check up on Oswald, but he hasn't actually spoken to his brother in almost nine years. After he left home he was pursued by the Kollective to join the young masters institute, but Scott had no desire to become a full-blown villain. He was briefly asked by the Academy, considering his dangerous abilities, but he was still a self-centered teen at the time and just kept running away from them. With adulthood, he is still occasionally pursued by the Kollective, but the Avengers have no interest in him (he's too much of a fuck-up, okay?). So in the end, he settled down in New York City and picked up his vigilante act. He does perform a big heist every now and then to pay for a plane ticket to L.A. so he can check up on his brother. He's glad that Ozzie wasn't an idiot like him and actually went to the Academy, but it also just gives him another reason to miss his family and feel sorry for himself. He was arrested and imprisoned last year, but breaking out of jail was a piece of cake for him.[/classy] [classy=apphead]SKILLS[/classy] [classy=listtext] - PUGILISM: Otherwise known as the combat sport, Boxing. The sport has always been a family tradition, so of course Scott is very learned in the sport. Scott's technique would be most related to the 'boxer-puncher' style of fighting. A boxer-puncher is a well-rounded boxer who is able to fight at close range with a combination of technique and power, often with the ability to knock opponents out with a combination and in some instances a single shot. In spite of the fact that Scott is very skillful and level-headed in a fight, he lacks confidence which often leads to his downfall. [liststyle]#[/liststyle]
- AMBIDEXTERITY: While Scott is primarily left-handed (he writes with his left hand), he is ambidextrous and more than capable when using both of his hands. Whether this is to steal a valuable item or if he's catching something valuable with whichever hand is available.
- PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Honestly, Scott is strong for a regular-sized man, and he really has to be. He has mediocre knife fighting skills, but his real gem is fighting with his hands. He doesn't train with weapons as he finds they only slow him down on a heist. The only drawback from this is however much strength he utilizes directly impacts his endurance (which is why he generally tries to incapacitate opponents with a knock-out as soon as possible). He works out on a regular basis so as to not get out of shape with his avid alcohol consumption.
- DECISION MAKING: Having been constantly under pressure his entire life, Scott is very adept at working in stressful situations, maintaining his cool and making rational decisions (for the most part). Even when under the influence, Scott is able to retain a sound mind that analyzes the situation at hand and formulates a good decision--whether or not he chooses to actually make said decision really depends on his mood.
[/classy] [classy=apphead]POWERS[/classy] [classy=listtext] - COMBUSTION INDUCING: Is the ability to cause explosions at will, in order for Scott to execute this ability he needs to touch his target. Targets of the ability are not always restricted to flammable objects; sometimes, any object can be affected by speeding up the motion of molecules, or simply causing said molecules to release the energy within them. Although flammable objects and living beings (because of molecules and energy) are a lot easier to blow-up than not-flammable, inanimate objects. For the most part he only uses this on objects, but if his temper gets the best of him he won't shy away from blowing some dirtbags hand off. [liststyle]#[/liststyle]
- COLLAPSE: Is the psionic ability to cause the collapse or fall of structures. This may be accomplished a number of ways, but for Scott he needs to touch the structure in order to cause it to collapse. Scott's ability entails psychic exaggeration of weak points, making structures crumble to pieces. He uses his combustion inducing ability to seek out the weak points of a structure and cause combustion so that the structure will crumble in on itself. Usually he only uses this for one wall on a structure, but he is able to cause small buildings to collapse, however, doing so leaves him drained for a whole day. He could, arguably, cause legs to collapse with a short blast of energy, but it's kind of hard when all of your powers require physical contact.
