[/classy] [classy=apphead]ORIGIN[/classy] [classy=blocktext] mike is a long-time government employee, having joined the army reserves in order to fund his college degree and entering the CIA after its completion. he immediately caught interest as a result of his near-perfect aim with just about anything, passing the markmanship exams with a perfect score and arousing not a small amount of suspicion - in everything else, the young agent seemed to be superhumanly clumsy. a brief look at his bloodwork by people in the know immediately showed the reason why - mutant-type legacy virus antibodies. interception of the lab report by SHIELD meant that agent dimaria was quietly offered a transfer rather than a pink slip, an offer that he accepted on the spot. as a SHIELD operative his duties were mainly liasing with other mutants, given the widespread mistrust of 'human government' amongst the community, and occasionally supporting military operations under the codename 'grid', providing long-range fire support and technical advice. however, after the bleed event he was drafted into the new SHIELD-operated avengers, something he's still not that happy about. one could even say he's sulking. [/classy] [classy=apphead]SKILLS[/classy] [classy=listtext] - TECHNICAL APTITUDE: mike's degree is in software engineering, and while he's long since abandoned the idea of being an IT guy he most certainly knows his way around computers and other electronic devices. he's no technopath, but he's certainly very capable of security bypasses and the other technical processes required of covert infiltrators in the modern day.[liststyle]#[/liststyle]
- WEAPONRY: well-versed in guns and nonlethal backups such as the humble baton, michael is something of a weapons master. he eschews hand-to-hand martial combat for something that allows him a little more range - after all, he's no more durable than any human, and he doesn't particularly want to lose an arm or have his face rearranged.
[/classy] [classy=apphead]POWERS[/classy] [classy=listtext] - TELEKINETIC MANIPULATION: michael's form of telekinesis is a rather impractical one, allowing him to hold and manipulate objects with his mind but not propel them. he equates it to driving a car - you can steer it, but if you tried to make it go yourself it wouldn't really work too well. his speciality, and the one giving rise to his codename, is manipulating projectile motion. a bullet fired from a gun is easy enough to pull from side to side, making him able to fire around obstacles and through narrow openings. of course he still needs to know where to direct the projectile afterwards, meaning firing blind without blueprints or outside direction is still pretty much useless.[liststyle]#[/liststyle]
- TELEKINETIC REPULSION: rather than being an ability he can activate at will, mike's secondary ability is one that he still can't quite direct, even after twelve years of training. should anything with sufficient velocity - at and above approximately 30mph, as far as anyone can tell - it will be subconsciously met with great telekinetic force, causing it to 'bounce off'. the effect takes place about two feet away from his actual body. the magnitude of momentum he can stop is currently unknown, mostly because nobody will volunteer to drive a car into him. he can, however, stop small-arms fire and even superhuman punches. anything below the velocity threshold, however, is fair game, and nothing he can do would really prevent a stab wound or having the life crushed out of him.
